Allen is the owner and lead therapist at Bodies in Balance Advanced Muscular Therapy.  He has been involved in healthcare and wellness for over 25 years.  He attended the diagnostic imaging and allied health degree programs at Albert Einstein Medical Center and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and graduated at the top of his class.  He began his career as a medical imaging technologist (X-ray/MRI) in 1989.  During that time, he worked in a variety of clinical settings including hospitals, operating rooms, trauma emergency rooms, imaging centers and orthopedic/sports medicine practice.

In 1996, he chose to take a more “hands-on” approach to his work and enrolled at the Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College and completed the 735 hour program with honors.  In 1997, he transitioned from his imaging career and opened Bodies in Balance Integrated Therapeutics, a clinical and sports massage therapy practice in Scottsdale focused on soft tissue pain, injury rehabilitation and restorative wellness.  Since that time he has performed over 18,000 hours of hands-on treatment including work with professional athletes from the NFL and MLB as well as Ironman triathletes and accomplished dance performers.  He has completed over 500 continuing education hours and advanced certifications in Neuromuscular Therapy, Orthopedic Massage and Assessment, Myoskeletal Alignment, Sports Massage, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Functional Movement Assessment and Kinesiology Taping.  He has been certified with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork and in personal training with the National Academy of Sports Medicine.  Additionally, in 2000 he had the remarkable experience of traveling to Thailand to study the ancient art of Traditional Thai massage.  Allen continues to devote an extraordinary amount of time and effort toward expanding his knowledge and skills through self-study and continuing education.  He has studied with some of the most advanced instructors in soft tissue therapy and injury rehabilitation in the country.

Allen specializes in a wide range of hands-on therapy and corrective exercise solutions for common musculoskeletal problems and chronic pain conditions.  His treatments are specific and tailored to clients' individual needs rather than taking a "cookie-cutter" approach.  He enjoys educating clients about how their bodies work and self care methods that can give them control over their own results.  He has a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of human anatomy, function and movement coupled with a compassionate and easy-going manner.  He works in conjunction with local physicians, physical therapists, chiropractors and fitness professionals as an adjunct to their care or as a stand alone solution.  Through his own encounters with soft tissue pain & injury he has gained a depth of understanding about what his clients are experiencing and how to chart a course toward wellness and a life without pain.

Comfort Craft Therapy Table (ADA Compliant)

Treatments are performed on the advanced Comfort Craft Model 800 therapy table.  This state of the art heated electric-lift table is vastly different from standard massage tables and is the ultimate in comfort and versatility.  The unique shape and dynamic ability to change the height of the table during treatment enables the therapist to provide more efficient and effective work while preserving thier own body mechanics.  The mid-split feature stretches and decompresses the low back making you more comfortable and allowing access to muscles that is just not possible on other tables.  The sliding headrest moves with your head so that your face and neck never become compressed like they can on a regular table.  You can be assured of a relaxing and therapeutic experience unlike any other you've had before.

Vibracussor
Vibracussor percussion massage is an exciting treatment approach that has quickly become a huge favorite with our clients.  This technology is currently used by many professional sports teams to enhance rehabilitation and recovery while reducing pain among their top players.  The Vibracussor delivers high frequency waves of percussive impulses to focused areas of muscular tension without the need for heavy force or pressure.  It quickly and gently penetrates the deepest layers of muscle and connective tissue which simply cannot be acheived comfortably by hand.  These vibration waves increase blood and lymphatic circulation while reducing muscle spasm and breaking up long standing and deeply held restrictions in the myofascial system.  For athletes, Vibracussor massage can be used to "warm-up" soft tissues prior to athletic events as well as a post-event treatment to "flush-out" muscles, accelerate recovery and minimize soreness.  Additionally, it stimulates specialized cells called "proprioceptors" that help to activate muscles which have become weak or inhibited.  Vibracussor therapy is also highly effective at releasing scar tissue and adhesions associated with surgery, repetitive motion injuries and restricted joint mobility. Experience why our clients absolutely LOVE the Vibracussor!
